Waynesville to build new liquor store
Waynesville's ABC store may finally be on the move.
A new facility near Wal-Mart and the new Belk store is expected to open July 1, 2013, if all goes according to plan. The local ABC Board will secure a $1.3 million 4.15 percent fixable rate loan to be repaid in 10 years and the property is expected to appraise at about $1.5 million when completed. As a publicly owned facility, it is exempt from property taxes.
The Waynesville ABC Board received approval in March 2010 from the N.C. Alcohol Beverage Control Commission to purchase property on Dayco Drive. After waiting more than two years, the ABC Board recently decided to go forward with the project. The closing on the $500,000 property is expected to take place Sept. 10.
