Waynesville's Craft Beer Faire is Aug. 16

Aug 13, 2014

To celebrate the rapid growth of craft beer in Haywood County, the American Legion will host the second annual Waynesville Craft Beer Faire from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 16 at Post 47.

The vision of local brewer Kevin Sandefur, owner of BearWaters Brewing Company, to bring a dynamic beer festival to Waynesville led to a grant by the Haywood County Tourist Development Authority to launch what is now a much anticipated yearly event.

The American Legion stepped in to host the event on their ball field, which supplies plenty of grass and shade for an enjoyable day. The first year was a great success with more than 30 craft brewers, home brewers and a near sell-out crowd.

Craft breweries that are already on board include BearWaters, Frog Level Brewing, Tipping Point Brewing, Oskar Blues Brewery, Double Barley Brewing, Highland Brewing, Innovation Brewing, Nantahala Brewing and Hi-Wire Brewing.

The faire also will feature great local music, food, homebrew and educational displays. The music line up this year includes Andrew Scotchie and the River Rats, The Freight Hoppers and Craig Summers and Lee Kram.

Tickets cost $35 and can be purchased at any of the local breweries or online at www.waynesvillebeer.com. VIP tickets cost $45, which includes early admission at noon.
