Aug 30, 2014

CULLOWHEE — Western Carolina University School of Music faculty members will present a Faculty Showcase concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, in the recital hall of WCU’s Coulter Building.

Among the performers will be new music faculty member Zsolt Szabo on trombone performing “Alphorn,” a work in which the instrument makes sounds reminiscent of the Swiss alphorn and many other unusual sounds, said Will Peebles, director of the School of Music.

Other music faculty performers will be Brad Ulrich, Mike Schallock, Shannon Thompson, Mario Gaetano, Andrew Adams, Brad Martin and Peebles. Former WCU music faculty member Lillian Pearson will provide piano accompaniment on many of the compositions.

The program is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the School of Music at 828-227-7242.
