The end of February is almost here, but there’s still plenty going on. The weather has been pretty warm for winter, and there’s no reason to stay indoors — except for all the awesome shows and events coming up. This weekend is the perfect time for a concert, play or for beer lovers to find a new favorite brew. Below is a list of all the biggest happenings this weekend — both in Asheville and Waynesville.

Haywood County

First things first, everyone in Haywood knows good bluegrass, and Pickin in the Armory in Canton always makes for a fun-filled evening. Stop by 71 Penland St. in Canton for live music and clogging on Friday night for some pickin’, which is always free. And don’t forget your dancing shoes.

It’s always fun to go check out the local talent at the community theater, and this weekend, HART in Waynesville is showing God of Carnage at 250 Pigeon St. The shows will be held Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. and again at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Call 456-6322.

If Saturday arrives and you’re in the mood for a string quartet, Harpeth Rising will be bringing its Chamberfolk to The Strand at 7:30 p.m. The show is at 38 N. Main St. and Tickets are $15. Call 828-283-0079.

Wondering how to entertain your kids this weekend? HART has the answer. Take them to see ‘Schoolhouse Rock Jr. either at 10 a.m. or at 2 p.m. this Saturday at 250 Pigeon St. Adult tickets are $10, and children cost $5. Call 456-6322.

The weekend just isn’t complete without some good food. So bring your friends to the Pigeon Multicultural Development Center from 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. this Saturday to enjoy a taco dinner for $9. The event is part of the Meals Around the World Series. Call 452-7232.

Did Valentine’s Day give you the blues? Well, venture out to Smoky Mountain Roller Girls' Speed Dating Fundraiser 6 to 10 p.m. on Saturday to meet some people.
