Everyone’s favorite Irish holiday is here - but fortunately, we don’t have to be Irish to celebrate. Whether you want to celebrate with music, a great show, a fundraiser or beer, the options are limitless! Stay in the Waynesville area or take a short ride out to Asheville and live it up this weekend.


Don’t miss a St. Patrick’s Day Celebration with Bohemian Jean, the Irish music-loving husband-wife duo of Matt Welborn and Jessi Stone on Friday night. They will be performing blues, Irish, pop and originals at the Classic Wineseller at 7:15 p.m. Stay for dinner! Call 828-452-6000 for a reservation.

And of course, you can’t forget about beer this weekend! Boojum Brewing, Waynesville is holditwo daysays of celebration in honor of St. Patrick, including food and drink specials, giveaways and a surprise, new St. Patrick’s Day beer. Also, Frog level Brewing, Waynesville is celebrating all things green, especially frogs.  There will be giveaways, new merchandise for sale and two bars open to keep the beer flowing. The Amazing Pizza Company food truck will be out front and Mindframe will be playing live staring at 7 p.m.

Come play bingo at the Voices in the Laurel 2nd Annual Bingo Night fundraiser on Friday, March 17. It will be held at 6 p.m. at Haywood County Fairgrounds. 758 Crabtree Road, Waynesville. The cost is $20 for 20 games. Coffee and dessert will ber served. Call 734-9163.

In the mood to groove? Pickin' in the Armory will be offered at 7 p.m. at Canton Armory. 71 Penland St., Canton. Enjoy live music and clogging for free.

How about a play? The HART showing of Neil Simon’s 'Prisoner of 2nd Ave.' continues Friday and Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Feichter Studio, 250 Pigeon St. in Waynesville. There will also be a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $10. Call 456-6322.

On Saturday, there’s another great fundraiser to check out - offering mouthwatering barbecue and the perfect evening of bluegrass! You won’t want to miss the Folkmoot’s Appalachian Friendship Dinner that will last from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Folkmoot Friendship Center. 112 Virginia Ave., Waynesville. With an abundance of great craft breweries in the area, you won’t have to travel very far to find a festive beer spot to let celebrate St. Patty’s Day.

Highland Brewing, in Asheville is rocking St. Patrick’s day with the band ‘The Dirty Badgers’ in the Tasting Room from 7 - 9 p.m.

Wedge Brewing at the Foundation, is celebrating the grand opening of its funky new location at the Foundation in the River Arts District with an all-day celebration, 8 a.m. - 10 p.m., on St. Patrick’s Day. Festivities include a morning wake-up breakfast from HighFive Coffee, lunch from next-door-neighbor, 12 Bones Smokehouse; and new Wedge beer releases of Dry Irish Stout, Cold Beer Cream Ale and Nitro Pub Ale. There will also be live music from 1-6 p.m. from Fireside Collective.

Duo Galelei will hold a St. Patrick's Concert from 7:30-10 p.m. at the Black Mountain Center for the Arts, 225 W. State Street, Black Mountain. Tickets cost $16.
