WestCare board votes to dissolve MedWest
The WestCare Board voted Tuesday to adopt a resolution to dissolve MedWest Health System which was formed Jan. 1, 2010, when WestCare affiliated with Haywood Regional Medical Center and entered into a management contract with Carolinas HealthCare System.
The board action follows a vote by the WestCare medical staff in July conveying to the WestCare Board the physicians' belief that the interests of Harris and Swain hospitals would best be served by the dissolution of MedWest and the return governance to the WestCare Board.
