Western Carolina Juniors Disc Golf Championship to Take Place August 3

The Waynesville Parks and Recreation Department will host the first annual "Western Carolina Juniors Disc Golf Championship" on August 3. The event will take place at the Waynesville Disc Golf Course located at Vance Street Park in Waynesville.

 
The format will consist of two 18 hole rounds. There will be short tees for girls age 16 and under and boys under age 10. Registration will begin at 8 am with a players meeting at 9:30 am.
 
There will be separate boys and girls division for the following age groups: seven years old and under; eight to 10 years old; 11 to 13 years old; 14 to 16 years old and 17 to 19 years old.
 
The entry fee is $20 per person. Trophies will be given in addition to vouchers as awards.
 
If you have never played before but would like to learn before this event the Waynesville Parks and Recreation Department also offers lessons. The lessons are for all ages and abilities.
 
The cost is free to members of the Waynesville Recreation Center or $5 for non members. Each lesson is an hour in length and can be taught individually or as a group.
