Wike leads Pisgah to victory

Junior guard sores 17 in Bears' fifth win of the season

CANTON — The Pisgah varsity boys basketball team but got an
outstanding performance from junior guard Hunter Wike, who finished a
team-high 17 points, in the Black Bears 66-62 victory over North
Buncombe Friday night.

Pisgah improved to 5-3 overall and North Buncombe sunk to 4-6.

Wike began the game draining three of the first five baskets, leading
the Black Bears to a 19-12 lead by the end the first quarter.

Pisgah continued to build on its lead in the second quarter (28-19)
before North Buncombe finished with a 12-8 run.

The Black Bears led at halftime, 36-30.

At the end of the third quarter, Pisgah maintained its six point
advantage, 54-48. The Black Bears were also hit with a rash of
illnesses and because of a depleted bench, Pisgah opted to slow the
pace to a crawl in the fourth quarter to preserve the win.

Joining Wike in double figures for Pisgah, junior Jesse Anderson
scored 15 points. while freshman Peyton Trusdale and Colby Alexander
finished with nine each and senior center Christian Bryant chipped in
eight points.

Josh Chandler scored 20 for North Buncombe.
