Willard L. Yarborough Sr.
KINGS MOUNTAIN — Willard L. Yarborough Sr., 73, resident of 506 Gantt St., Kings Mountain, died April 6, 2014, at Kings Mountain Hospice House. He was born in Haywood County to the late Robert Theodore Yarborough. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Yarborough, and sister, Nancy Yarborough. Mr. Yarborough was retired from YC Ballinger as a high-tension lineman and also retired from Kings Mountain Fire Department. He also formerly served on the Waynesville Volunteer Fire Department. In recent years, he owned and operated a lawn service. He graduated from Waynesville Township High School. Mr. Yarborough enjoyed working on cars, wood working, and talking to his friends and neighbors, and firefighting.
He is survived by his sons, Willard L. Yarborough Jr., and wife, Teresa, of Kings Mountain, James Madison Yarborough, and wife, Tina, Tiger, of Georgia, Mark Dean Yarborough, and wife, Dora, of Waynesville; daughters, Angel Stone Lovelace and husband, Farrell, of Kings Mountain, Anita Yarborough Moore, and husband, Robert Willetts of Waynesville; mother, Laura Bell Parris Yarborough, of Waynesville; brother, John Yarborough, and wife, Effie, of Waynesville; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; his dog, Pony; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service with fireman’s honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 12, at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel. The Rev. Bob Hope will officiate.
A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 11, at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain, and at other times at the home of the son, 102 Majesty Place, Kings Mountain.
Internment will take place at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain.
Memorials may be made in Mr. Yarborough’s name to Hospice of Cleveland County, Kings Mountain Hospice House, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.
