William 'Bill' Davis Moore
WAYNESVILLE — William “Bill” Davis Moore, 83, of Waynesville, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013 from injuries sustained in a tractor accident.
Bill was a lifelong resident of Haywood County. He retired after 38 years with Haywood EMC. He was a member of Elizabeth Chapel Methodist Church in Ratcliffe Cove. Bill will be long remembered as a loving husband, a caring brother, a supportive loving father and grandfather and a compassionate neighbor. He instilled in his children and grandchildren a strong work ethic, a love for community, a sense of right and wrong, strong Christian values and love for each other.
He was preceded in death by his father Davis Moore, mother Bertha Teague Moore, sister Betty Sue Carangelo and brother Bud Moore. He is survived by his wife Dot Moore, son Greg Moore, daughters Pat Henry, Brenda Clark and Dianna Wodziak, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18 in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Rev. Greg Metcalf officiating. Burial will follow at Ratcliffe Cove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s name to Ratcliffe Cove Cemetery Fund in care of Phyllis Ratcliffe at 75 Keller Street, Waynesville NC 28786 or the Elizabeth Chapel United Methodist Church at 98 Elizabeth Chapel Road, Waynesville, NC 28786.
