LACOMBE, LOUISIANA — Mr. William Emerson Abbott Jr. (Bill), 82, passed away Nov. 3, 2012. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late William Emerson Abbott,

Sr. and Blanche Hall Medford.

He graduated from Clyde High School, and retired from the U.S. Air Force. While enlisted, he served his country in the Korean War. Bill was cool and fun loving, and lived life to the fullest. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kandy, the love of his life; his son, William E. Abbott III, of Clark’s Summit, Pennsylvania; his

grandson, William E. Abbott IV, of Clark’s Summit, Pennsylvania; granddaughter Angela Field of Fruithurst, Alabama; two great-grandsons, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two sisters, Carolyn Abbott Pope, and her husband, McClain, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Judith Abbott McCracken, and her husband Dan, of Clyde; and stepbrothers Larry B. Medford, of Asheville, and Jimmy Helms, of Lake Junaluska.

Mr. Abbott’s remains have been donated to Tulane University for science.
