William James Farrell, 80, of Waynesville, NC, passed away on Dec. 29, 2016, at Homestead Hospice surrounded by his family. A native of Cincinnati, OH, he was the son of the late William Lambert and Marcella Dilling Farrell.
His family moved to Florida in his early teens. He was a N.C. resident since 1979 and jointly resided 16 years in Ortona, FL. He was a retired self-employed contractor. He was an avid hunter, outdoors man and loved the Everglades.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Hansen Farrell; and sister, Patricia Farrell Wolter Compton, of Okeechobee, FL.
Surviving are his sons William Lambert Farrell (Renee), of Baton Rouge, LA, Patrick John Farrell, Christopher Michael Farrell (Cheryl) and Timothy Charles Farrell, of Waynesville; daughters, Sandra Elizabeth Wassink (Marshall), of Tucson, AZ, Shirley Ann Trantham (Jeff), of Clyde, Kelly Sharon Allison (Van), of Waynesville; nephew, Ken Wolter, of Wasilla, AK; and niece Kathy Schweir (Mark), of Okeechobee, FL; 13 grandchildren Danielle Wells (Daniel), Dillon, Clay, Amelia and Devin Farrell, Emily McClure (Mattison), Zachary Sharp (Brittany), Caitlin Smathers (Justin), Megan and Lukas Trantham, Samuel and Skylar Wassink and Nicolas Allison; three great-grandchildren, Arielle and Isabelle Wells, Dakota Smathers.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
