Winter camp for kids during holiday season

The Waynesville Parks and Recreation Department will offer a day camp for kids in kindergarten through sixth grade at the Waynesville Recreation Center. The camp will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 23, 26, 27, 30 and 31.

On Dec. 23 and 26, there will be a field trip for tubing at Cataloochee Tubing. The cost for these days will be $40 per person per day for members of the Waynesville Recreation Center or $45 per person for non-members.

On Dec. 27, there will be a field trip for hiking, on Dec. 30 there will be a field trip for geocaching and on Dec. 31 there will be a field trip for winter exploration. The cost for these days will be $15 per person per day for members of the Waynesville Recreation Center or $20 per person for non-members.

The camp will include games, movies, swim time in the pool and other fun park activities. Campers will need to bring a swimsuit, lunch, tennis shoes, water shoes, a towel and snacks. The campers will receive an exact itinerary when they are registered.
