The Waynesville Middle School Booster Club will hold its first annual Bagapalooza Cornhole Tournament from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19 . This event will be held on the school premises either at the track or in the gym, depending on weather conditions. All the proceeds will benefit Waynesville Middle School Athletics.

Cornhole is a popular lawn game in which players take turns tossing beanbags toward a hole on a raised platform and points are accumulated up to a total of 21 points.

“This is a fun activity for the entire family to enjoy," said John McGuire, a teacher and coach at Waynesville Middle School.

The tournament will be a double elimination event for two person random draw teams. The prizes awarded will be one-third of ticket sales divided between the first three places respectively. The rules will follow those of the American Cornhole Association (www.playcornhole.org). In addition, Bagapalooza will feature other games, activities and raffles. Food and beverages will be available for purchase and spectators are welcome to watch the tournament for free. Alcohol and tobacco products are not permitted.

“Anyone can come, spend the day and have some fun,” said Bonnie Coleman, Athletic Director at Waynesville Middle School.

The cost to enter the tournament is $15 per person. Advance registration is recommended and available at The Home and Party Store and Mountaineer Oxygen, both loacted in Waynesville. Registration can also be done before the tournament, beginning at 10 a.m.

Waynesville Middle School Booster Club’s mission is to provide support through fundraising while promoting school spirit through integrity and generosity.
