Sean L. Wilson, daughter of Patricia Bishop, of Waynesville, was awarded the American History Woodmen of the World Student of the Year for 2013-14. Wilson is a junior at Central Haywood High School.

Caroline Bethea-Brown, social studies teacher at CHHS, chose Wilson as the recipient based on her content knowledge, high motivation, positive disposition and hard work in the classroom. She also eagerly assists his classmates to understand the lessons and grasp the information.

The award was given by Matt Wells, representing the Woodmen of the World Life Insurance Society, to Brown and Principal Jeff Haney, who presented it to Wilson.

Wilson will graduate with the class of 2015. She plans to attend UNC-Charlotte to major in Japanese and become an international translator and/or interpreter; she wants to live and work in Japan.
