The Melrose, Seago & Lay Law Firm announced the first Words Can Kill Viral Video Scholarship Contest. There will be two separate $1,500 scholarships awarded — one to a Haywood County high school senior, and one to a senior from Jackson County.

The recipient will receive this one-time scholarship payable to their college, university, or trade school of choice.

Eligible students will submit a short video or PowerPoint focused upon educating other young people about the dangers of texting and driving.

The attorneys at Melrose, Seago & Lay recognize the danger of distracted driving, and they believe this contest will help educate students that distracted driving can be even more dangerous than drunk driving. An independent panel of judges will select the winners of this scholarship who will be ...
