What better way to recharge the body and mind this summer than with yoga and tennis at Lake Junaluska?

Rumi Kakareka, a certified yoga instructor with 20 years of experience, offers a drop-in gentle yoga class for beginners or those needing a deep, restful style of yoga, at 10 a.m. Mondays in the Fitness Center at the Kern Building. He also offers Fitness Yoga, a more rigorous form of yoga, at 4 p.m. Wednesdays. No registration is required and each class is $10 per person.

Kakareka is also offering summer tennis clinics at the Lake Junaluska tennis courts. His Junior Intro Tennis is for pre-teens, ages 8 and up, who are just learning the game. Players will use smaller rackets and softer tennis balls. These clinics are from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday through August, and cost $20 per session.

Tennis Basics is a clinic for adults and teens who want to learn the game of tennis for the first time or who haven’t played in a long time.

Teen Tennis Development is for teens already playing tennis who want to improve stroke production, strategy, power and fitness.

Kakareka also offers private and semi-private tennis lessons for those who want to work individually or with a partner to become a more effective tennis player. Private lessons are $20 per player per hour. Semi-private lessons are $30, which can be split with a partner.
