Clyde:  Haywood Community College and the members of the Haywood County Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Task Force invite students, staff and the community to attend the dating violence awareness event "You Don't Own Me!" Rally on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at noon on the HCC campus between the 200 and 300 buildings, around the fountain. This rally will kick-off Domestic Violence Awareness Month with speakers, music, information, the Ripples of Hope display by Daydreamz Project and refreshments.

"Dating abuse, which is often a precursor to domestic violence, is an issue that impacts many students lives, even though studies show that most adolescents and young adults believe it is wrong to be abusive to your dating partner," said Buffy Queen, facilitator for the DV/SA Task Force and Community Educator for REACH of Haywood. "Our task force is so happy to accept Haywood Community College's invitation to bring attention to this issue and help lead the rally promoting peace in relationships."
