Dr. Zacher presents $4,000 to superintendent Dr. Anne Garrett and Foundation Director Jenny Wood

Dr. Allan Zacher, a local physician with offices in Clyde, recently made a $4,000 contribution to the Haywood County Schools Foundation.

Zacher, who is an avid supporter of public education, is very concerned about the ongoing cuts to public education in North Carolina.  These cuts have resulted in the lost of more than $5 million and over 130 positions in Haywood County Schools since January of 2009.

“We really appreciate Dr. Zacher’s support for public schools," said Superintendent Anne Garrett. "There are so many things that would not be available to our students and teachers without the generous support of the Haywood County Schools Foundation and the donors, like Dr. Zacher, who support our schools.”

Zacher said he believes public education is so valuable that it should be fully supported through public funds.

“I believe tax cuts have cost us thousands of education jobs North Carolina.  That is why donation includes my anticipated tax reduction for 2013,” he said.

Zacher recognizes North Carolina’s education system as one of the finest in the country.  He invites other members of the community to join him by supporting education through donations or encouraging elected representatives to fully fund public education in North Carolina.

Thank you Dr. Allan Zacher for contributing to the education of the children in Haywood County.  Cuts to education are detrimental to the community in that children are our future.  Educators of our children hold the keys to their future.  Every teacher I know teaches because they love children and want a bright future for them.  They give countless unpaid hours and their own money to make this happen.  Your donation I am sure has made them smile.  Thank you.
