Zell Dean Moses
CLYDE — Zell Dean Moses, 82, died on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017, at Haywood Regional Medical Center. Dean was born in Niota, Tennessee, on Aug.20, 1934, to the late Candace and Leila Murray Moses.
Dean served as a pilot in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Dean had been a businessman for over 60 years, formulating many companies in the construction and development field as well as finance. His success reached over 48 states, heading up multiple corporations, including U.S. Amalgamated Corporation, government housing, developments and banking. He was a visionary who created a great many projects over his career. He loved flying airplanes, dancing and camping. He enjoyed living in the North Carolina mountains with his wife, giving him much joy in his later years.
In addition to his parents, Dean was preceded in death by his daughters, Cindy Morrissey and Debbie Moses.
Dean is survived by his wife, Colleen; his daughters, Terrie Moses and Susie Moses; his brothers, Tim Moses (Shelley) and David Moses; grandchildren, Adam Weinstein, Teresa Morrissey, Colin Morrissey, and Courtney; his great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Dean’s life will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 15, in the chapel of First Baptist Church of Waynesville with the Rev. Dr. Robert Prince officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the church.
